I was sighting in some rifles Saturday, had a 62 grain Bear claw hit the square tubing frame. It went through two pieces of half inch plywood, one side of 1/8 tubing, made a wart hitting second side of square tubing, tearing metal a bit. I think a 62 grain Bear claw would go through a whitetail deer shoulders. I don’t deer hunt with a 223, but this bullets kills hell out of pigs.

They will wreck a deer or hog out to 300 yards if you put it in the right place. Most all I hunt with now...

I believe Winchester quit making their 64 grain PowerPoint, but they work just fine on Whitetail deer and hogs. I have been using them for many years, and have 500 set aside

Is that the one that more or less became SOST?

If so I can see why!

I've shot a number of deer with the 55 grain TBBC...I have zero doubts that the 62 grainer would work...

I doubt it, but does anyone have a source foe 62gr TBBC?

Thanks.

A couple years ago I bought a bunch of Federal MK318 Mod 0 bullets that when sectioned look like a Trophy Bonded.

It was their Barrier Blind bullet for the Marines. Lead inside the front 1/3rd and solid copper for the rear 2/3rd.

They're all I use for deer these days in the 223 and 22-250

65 Gameking has worked for me. I tend to mangle lungs.

The Hornady 55 grain soft point that comes in the 50 round boxes has worked just fine for my daughter. Just punch them through the lungs and don't try to break a shoulder down. I have no doubt that the bullet in question would work even better.

I started my first 4 grandkids off using a 223 with factory 64gr power points on local whitetails. They’ve killed at least 10, all with 1 shot per deer. I’ve got 5 or 6 boxes left, which should be plenty for my remaining 10 grandkids. If it ain’t broke……

Both have been great for deer and pigs out to 225 yards plus or minus.

Nope, no markings, two grooves one for crimp and one to reduce the bearing surface.
The lead isn't bonded but they have a nice pop when hitting bambies and penetrate through well.

I love these 223 for deer threads! Most common sence threads on the campfire IMO. IME deer have died just as fast when I shoot them with a 223 as with any other cartridge up to a 45/70. I've used exclusively the 55ttsx and when it worked I decided to stay with it

I am glad our Missouri whitetails don't require a railroad spike tough bullet to kill.

A 55 -65 grain soft point works pretty well.
