Thumper,
The load I have worked up for my 358 Win is with the 225gr Sierra Gameking and I have also used the 225gr Swift A-frame.
My best groups were with 42gr of IMR 3031, I made these for Bear hunting in Maine, so I sighted in at 50 yards,,,the four shot groups were all in a 3/4 inch cloverleaf. Either bullet gave the same size group, 3031 was the best powder, I did try IMR 4064 and IMR 8208.
I hope this helps.

51grs of TAC behind a 200gr TSX, you'll be right at 2700fps with it, give or take.

I have not fired Barnes from mine but I shoot the 200gr Hornady SP and RN, the 225 Nosler Partition, 225 Sierra GK and Speer 220 FN.

WW Brass
CCI 200
H4895 - 47.0grs - 225's = 2450fps

Accuracy has been from good with the Speer and Partition to great with the others.

Have used IMR 4320 and when I couldn't get that, IMR 4064. Also have used Reloder 7 with pistol bullets and am currently playing with TAC. 200 gr Hornady is what I started with back in 1979 and haven't changed since.

250 speer bullet,44 grains of imr 4064 and a 215 fed primer has been my standard 358 win load in my blr AND THE SAME LOAD IVE LOADED FOR THE 4 OTHER GUYS I KNOW WHO USE 358 WIN BLR CARBINES
sight in 3.5" high at 100 yards puts it almost dead on at 200 yards and about 10" low at 300 yards, thats been an effective combo for DECADES

My BLR really likes 200gr Hornady RN, .005 off the lands, over 47gr IMR 3031 with Winchester primer. Never chronographed it, but produces repeatable MOA at 100yds.

Not the bullet weight you're lookin for, but I like JB's load of 48 grains of TAC with a 250 gr Speer or Hornady. My 22" Hawkeye gets 2450 fps with that load. An 18.5 barreled gun I used to have got 2375 with it.

I've got some 250gr Noslers to try since the Hornadys seem to act like grenades.

I run two bullets out of my Sako carbine.
The 225 gr Sierra SPBT and the Nosler 225 PT, both with a max charge of W748 in a WW case and Fed 215 primer.

I and several friends have killed elk with this rifle/combo.
FWIW: I've recovered two Sierra bullets, but all the Noslers have been pass throughs....

I usually sight in 3" high @ 100 yards.
My longest shot was on an elk @ 257 yards - dead within feet of the hit.

The Sierras are inexpensive, the Noslers not so much. They both shoot to the same POI over all ranges the .358 is useful for....

Used this load in Africa in 2012 on a couple of truckloads of critters with perfect results.

40grs of IMR4198 under a 200gr Hornady bullet gets 2450 from my Hawkeye stainless and groups well under 1". It worked quite well on a doe this past hunting season. Blew pieces of bone on lung out in a nice fan shape when hit at 15'. shocked

I personally don't see the need for shooting barnes bullets out of the 358win. It doesn't push anything fast enough to stress the bullets and with the high velocity need to expand the barnes, you start having the bullets pencil thru the game at longer ranges. I was going to use 130gr TTSX in my 308, but 1900-2000fpas minimum velocities made it iffy out at longer ranges.

I've not been impressed with tac in 20" carbine barrels. Slow velocity, noticeably more recoil.

Three to be exact: 375 winchester, my 41-9.3x62 wildcat and the 358 winchester

In all instances, the faster rl 10x gave better velocity and less recoil. Standard primer worked great as well.

My many thousands of lbs of moose and caribou were put away with 10x powered handloads. Mostly with 358 winchester.

Luke, that goofy kimber trend-setter down in wasilla, was getting some phenomenal velocities from a 16" kimber 358 carbine he put together, using 10x handloads.

A necrothread, but it's back on top now, so...

In a few long gone Ruger 77s & more recently a M70 with a 21" bbl., the 200gr Hornady Sp.Pt. with crunchy old IMR-3031 has been a top choice for velocity & accuracy. Usually 3/4 to 1", with the occasional 1/2", 4-shot groups @ 100 yds. using a 1.5-5x scope from benchrest.

AA2015BR is even better in every way. This stuff is the perfect 358 Win. powder IMO, but the current AA2015 is supposedly a different powder altogether. Just opened the last 4#er of the older BR last year & finally got a # of the newer stuff to compare but haven't been to the range in a while.

W748 was the 1st powder I tried in the 358. It's a just tad slower with almost the same accuracy as 3031 using very compressed charges. I dont like the hard fouling it leaves behind or the amount of compression needed to get velocity up. Life was easier before the chronograph.

TAC is pretty decent for velocity, but I haven't been able to get small groups with it with any bullet weight except for some 250gr loads between 2250 & 2300fps. Is there much lot to lot variation with this powder?

N133 has done very well with 200s in limited testing so far.

Moving up to Sierra 225s, AA2015BR & IMR3031 are still my 1st 2 choices. W748 is marginal, but possibly useful in a pinch. Now that I've managed to get some more of these bullets from a couple of members here recently, RL10x & PPVarmint need more testing, as do N135 & maybe N140.

I'm not sure that 250s are all that useful in the 358 since the advent of 225s. I have a 35 Whelen & a 358 Norma. Back before there were 225s, I was happy with W748 & the Speer 250 for a number of years & terribly disappointed when the new chronograph only read 2100fps. TAC beats my 748 load by 200+fps with equal or slightly better accuracy & there hasn't been much else done with 250s.

The old Dutchman once told me that fate watches over fools, drunks, & handloaders. Since getting on the internet, I'm pretty sure he was right.
