Any opinions on this product?
I recently adopted a black Lab pup. I picked up some puppy food at the local grocery store called Nunn Better. He ate it well enough but he started smelling and scratching all the time. Some reading online led me to believe it could be a food allergy due to grains. I went to the local TSC and ended up buying a bag of the 4Health puppy formula. He's only been on it a few days, not long enough to make much difference with his skin issues, but the change in his energy level has been amazing. He is a wild man!
This food gets good reviews online, especially for skin and coat issues. Just wondering if anyone here uses it and their thoughts.
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

All you can do is read the ingredients and pick feeds with more meat than grain, then see what happens.
A brand that works for one dog may not be as good for another
You can help skin/coat problems with Fish Oil capsules and Vitamin E capsules Just toss them in with the food and they will usually eat them without noticing.
Lots of dogs have allergies, so only change one thing at a time when trying new things, and be patient.
One shot, one kill........ It saves a lot of ammo!

Our vet recommended 4Heath for our Yorkies years ago, and we buy the big bag every couple of months.

4Health at Dog Food Advisor Bottom line?
4Health is a plant-based dry dog food using a moderate amount of chicken, lamb or fish meals as its main sources of animal protein, thus earning the brand 4 [out of 5] stars.
Highly recommended.

Our last dog had some digestion issues so we we switched her to a food called Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. Strange name, but good food. She did well on that for quite a while, but when she started getting a bit older we switched to the Taste of the Wild, which she liked even better and seemed easier on her system.

4health (most flavors), Taste of the Wild, Chicken Soup, Kirkland, and a slew of others are made by Diamond. I wonder how much difference there is between all the brands they make. IMHO, they make a better than average product, when it's not being recalled.

We use 4health for our hunting lab. It is highly rated so we decided to switch from Purina. My son happens to work at Tractor Supply part time, so the discount helps and he does the shopping too! One thing I noticed is we had to cut back on the amount of food we were feeding our Lab. We started out giving her the same amount of 4health as we did with purina and she gained some weight. She loves the food and we have had zero problems.

How does 4Health compare price-wise to standard Purina. As soon as our lab was weaned from puppy chow I went with Purina[ all our labs prior got cheapo Sams/TSC etc and their later years were rough]. So I decided no import food with this one. I would like to upgrade a notch though.

It's $35 for 35lbs here. You definitely don't have to feed as much because it isn't filled with mostly corn like a lot of other foods. I feed as much as it says to on the bag for my dogs' weight. Both my dogs are trim, full of energy, and their coats are soft and shiny.
I get coupons from TSC in the mail quite often, usually $5 off a bag.

If I had bigger dogs I would try Kirkland signature dog food since it priced well and like others said Diamond makes TOTW dog food as well. Taste of the Wild, Blue Wilderness(small breed) are what we buy for our 2 Jack Russells.

Been feeding 4Health to our dogs for several years. The grain free is better for them.

One of my setters had allergies and I switched to Wellness dog food about 10 years ago. Zero allergy problems since. I have it delivered right to my front door from Chewy.com and its 8 bucks cheaper per bag than I can buy it at the local pet food store. They carry about any brand you might want

They carry about any brand you might want I just checked Chewy.com......the Diamond Naturals Chicken and Rice that I feed is about three bucks a bag more than I pay.....even with sales tax (6%) it's a buck and a half higher...... A buck and a half isn't a deal breaker but not being able to look at the cowgirls butts at the farm store is.....

Not trying to talk anyone in to going to Chewy.com but it works much better for me. Did you check it with the 5% discount for using their autoship?

I fed Taste of the Wild for a couple of years and was happy with it until my Chessie got a sort of growth between the toes of his left forepaw. Put him out of the hunt test season last year...the vet said maybe a food allergy. I went to Merrick grain free. Unlike TOW, they guarantee no ingredients from China. Recently found out Merrick is now owned by (I think) Nestle (or some big corporation) so am in the midst of switching to Orijen (made in Canada, no foreign ingredients, no grain) to play it safe before Merrick quality falls in the interest of increasing shareholder wealth at any cost. Stuff is spendy, without a doubt, but my dog is muscled up, high energy, great coat...I am a firm believer that grain has no business in a dog's diet. The really good dog food is expensive, but you don't need to feed as much and you save it back in vet bills.
