All; Top of the morning to you folks, I hope the weekend treated each of you acceptably and this finds you well. We had our 72nd Annual Sheep Count yesterday and I hope this is an okay spot to put a bit of a report up about it. If not someone can transplant it to a better location. The coordinator Lee contacted the local news up in Kelowna who sent a young fellow down to see what was going on. Somehow they roped in a little old guy in a cowboy hat too. If any of you wondered what I look like or sound like, wonder no more... https://globalnews.ca/video/9482307...i8qjU4X2M0rs3HaWvRKUarTbpxJ_8ZYbiUb_a48gBest to you all. Dwayne

673; Morning my friend, I hope the weekend was a good one for you. You were right, that was definitely me... It was the first time I did anything like that on camera and the young fellow took about 5 minutes of questions to condense down to those sound bites. Lee and I were a little bit concerned over what kind of spin they'd put on it, but they really didn't and we both felt they communicated why we continue to do what we do for wildlife. You'd be welcome anytime sir - it's the second Sunday of February every year - besides the beer flu break. We meet down at Vaseux Lake Provincial Park at 8:00AM, split into groups and sally forth - or fifth as it were. We'll take anybody and try to match their gear and physical condition to who they head out with. I carry spare walking sticks and such too. A few of us kicked around doing an informal sheep count during that time, but we were attempting to not get a gun club any negative press since we already seemed to have no shortage of that. All the best. Dwayne

Jordan; Top of the morning to you sir, I hope you and your fine family are all well.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
The young fellow got wrong that I've been a member since '84 but started counting in '88, but otherwise it's what we'd hoped for. I guess what's 4 years here or there over that stretch?
One of the guys on the count with me has been there nearly all that time too. Both of us had our kids go along way back when and our eldest usually goes with me the past few years but was double booked.
Anyways he and I were chatting that it felt good to still be able to trod the same ground after this many years - well decades now Jordan.
All the best and thanks again.
Dwayne

Yer a handsome sunovagun, ain't ya!
I know what you mean about the long questions and the condensed interview. At least he did it as a good news story instead of a hit piece. Been through it, though the worst I had was back about 30 years ago when I had a print journalist interview me and I gave a lot of yes and no answers. When the article came out you'd have thought I was a verbose PhD with the things I'd supposedly said.
That incident was the final nail in my trust in journalists.

Wannabebwana; Good afternoon to you Ontario time sir, I hope that besides your eyesight being a little suspect that you're well. There's a bit of a shot of the crowd early on and one can see - looking down to do so of course - a fairly short guy with a blue bandana and a greenish brown cowboy hat on. I suppose that has put an unceremonious end to me claiming to be 6'5" and 275lbs online now at very least, you know? As mentioned Lee and I chatted about it and crossed our fingers. I taught him Hunter Safety back when he was quite young and it's so cool to see how involved he's become now in the club and with wildlife and firearm efforts. I talked about that off camera to the young reporter too - that our role has to be passing on what we know to the next generation so they can carry on but with their own take and style, etc. He seemed to be a really decent young fellow, but then I've been fooled by people before and odds are I will again. All the best and thanks for the chuckle. Dwayne
