I have a Remington 700 DM in .280 with the wood stock. I'm looking for an aftermarket synthetic stock, but I'm having trouble finding one for the factory DM style. I see several that work with the M5 style DM. Would the M5 work with my factory DM action if I purchase M5 bottom metal? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a BDL DM in 280 also. I put an HS Precision stock on it about 17/18 years ago. I'm not sure if they are still offered though.

Edited. A quick squiz at HS Precision shows no stocks suitable for your rifle. Only two for DBM but for short actions only.

Yes if you buy the matching bottom metal the M5 will work. H-S precision makes their own bottom metal/magazines that fit BDL bottom metal inletting. It is expensive though. ($359.99). You could also buy BDL bottom metal which would open up your options.

They may be able to make you one for a long action if they are still making the DBM SA. I’d give them a call and see. 605-341-3006.

It isn't hard to inlet a 700 BDL stock for the DM. It works the other way too, 700 BDL bottom metal has the same footprint and the DM bottom metal.
