Cookie was out from about Oct 25 through Nov 20 loaded down with cameras and chasing deer. I was absent for the first 2 weeks chasing elk with a rifle. Caught up and helped out over the last portion of her camp out. Numbers were down this year, and she had a tougher time running down some of the bigger boys. A few have familiar faces from previous years, so it's good to see some of the better specimens make it into the rut. Downside, there were not a lot of youngsters to be seen, so pickings might be thinner next year. Also, a 9-day muzzleloader season opened a couple days back, and a few might still buy the farm before that ends. Still though, their genes will be out there. I picked out about 26 or 7 images and will put up 5 or 6 at daily intervals over the coming week. First, a guy packing only one brow tine. Next a couple of 3By's Next a 4By and a couple 5 By 6's To those still out there best of luck, and see you tomorrow,

Have a few moments so will put up some more. A 6X5 A 6By A repeated sighting over the last 3 years that Cookie refers to as Bandit referencing his masked eyes and stripe down the nose. First season a 4by, last year a 3 x 4, and back to a 4by this year. Seems to remain a rather petite animal though. Next are 3 or 4 images of one of the hogs. About the 4th season for this guy and he was a serious contender when first sighted several years back. Nick named Big Eddie and is a tough fellow to shake out. and Big Eddie hard (pun intended) at work. Fronts seem a little crabby this year.

Here's a more typical view of that animal when he's aware people are around. Got a couple freezers to defrost and an elk to cut and wrap today. Have a good one and will put up some more tomorrow

Fair Chase: Close enough to be cousins. With a little imagination, that same buck was a 5by4 last year. A few days later early AM he was minus that split left rear. Would like to have seen the buck that took him on. Will put up some more of this season's images tomorrow.

Here's a few more. One that got a bit broken up A repeated sighting from last season when this one hung out around Cookie's camp. This year he was centered a couple miles away. Almost an identical antler configuration as last year with just a bit more mass. Left side. Right side Not to ignore the fairer sex. Crossing over An interesting twist to the right antler tip and a nugget on the left Wide but without much height Don't know what the issue might be with the doe's left side. Same critter but a little closer look. Pretty good condition on most of these boys, as it was a good forage year. Have a good one,

And here's the last batch. An early morning pair tolerating one another. On point but the tip of his tail is missing. Pretty well dwarfs the accompanying doe. Cookie heard about this guy and it took two days and about 140 miles of road work to run him down. This one still packing a little velvet This guy was discovered during the above mentioned 2-day search. Reached out a bit for this image, so it's not quite as sharp as the rest. Probably would have taken him if I'd only had a tag and been along. And last is Weird Harold. Confused as to his sexuality and was probably raised by liberal parents. That's a wrap for this issue. Have a great and filling Thanksgiving,

Think I might follow her around if she's out next season.
