Heard on the Campfire that the factory burned down other day? Is this true? I also heard that Geoff was not going to rebuild it. Insurance paid enough to retire I guess, ha. I sure love his bullets!

I think he is 71 and wouldn't be keen on the whole process of building up the machinery setup again, but hopefully some sort of business partnership arrangement can be reached with another party and his experience and expertise can be used to get it going again.
Whatever you said...everyone knows you are a lying jerk. That's a bold assertion. Point out where you think I lied. Well?

That's fantastic news. I heard that his enthusiasm is picking up as he goes through the damage assessment and working out what needs to be done. He didn't have insurance - I'm not clear on whether no-one would insure the business or it was going to be cost prohibitive. The insurers wanted to class him as a munitions facility or something like that - somewhat extreme but their call I suppose.

The latest I read, from an June 20th email from Geoff is they expect to restart production very late this year, with full production early next year.
Fingers crossed .

Don't think Geoff could get insurance so that is not an angle to look at.
I am so pleased Woodleigh are rebuiding. Like many, I remember what it was like with nitro cartridges pre Woodleigh, Bertram etc. Had to scratch around, make do and source lots components from overseas if they could be gotten.

Thank goodness they are rebuilding. They fill a niche market and fill it well.

The popup message on www.woodleighbullets.com.auFactory Fire Rebuild Update
We have rebuilt our factory, and are well into the process of rebuilding our production machinery.
Our aim is to start production of new product by end of 2022, though it will be some time before we get our full range back into stock.
Thank you again for your messages of support, and physical help from some amazing true blue Aussies
Regards, Geoff & Shirley McDonald.

I like them for the heavy bullet/round nose choices for 7mm and up. Their 310RN in my old 35 Whelen Ackley Improved was a wonderful Hog killer...all I ever got to kill with it, ha.

Pretty good moose killer too… 3 Bulls have been felled with 4 310 gr weldcores in .358. I have almost 65 still loaded up, so I’m probably good for life, but I’ll be happy when they’re back online and I can load 50 more for good measure. One thing I learned is not to blindly trust their reloading data, cause the 35 Whelen load data with RL-15 is super hot.

I saw a copy of what looks to be an email from Geoff in 2008 that shows 57gn with that powder and weight projectile, and would be super hot. The subsequent Woodleigh reloading manual (2014) shows a maximum of 53gns. https://shooting.com.au/shop/books-dvd/books-reloading/woodleigh-bullets-loading-manual/Here's some Woodleigh porn to whet the appetite in the meantime:
