A Constitutional Convention is one way to ammend the Constitution but I don't think it is the only way.. Unless I am mistaken when a Constitutional Convention is convened, there are no subjects off limits. Anything and everything is subject to change, including as you said the Second Ammendment. It could result in an entirely different country than we have now.
The other method is an ammendment approved by 2/3 majority of both houses of Congress and accepted by 3/4 majority of the states. This would be the preferred method of ammending the constitution.

New York last week passed legislation nullifying the Supreme Courts recent 2nd Amendment ruling, and nobody is stopping them. We are living in lawless times. I’m quite certain that a rookie prosecutor could put together an air tight case against Biden for selling our Strategic Reserve oil to China for personal profit, yet the DOJ will never even question it. This is the fast track to communism.

An Executive Order is NOT Law, it has no penalty for not being followed.....
It is an Order, from the Chief Executive, that Directs the Executive Branch.
The SCOTUS tossed the abortion 'issue' back to the States.
The States are NOT bound by Executive Orders.
The issue of violating a State Law RE: Abortions is NOT a FEDERAL issue.

Look, as soon as it leaked that the SCOTUS might overturn Roe, the Left got together with all of their policy makers, all their constitutional lawyers, all their pollsters/campaign advisors etc. They had many meetings that started with “what does this mean for us, and what are our options to combat this?” What did they come up with? 1- they have a political issue to energize their base 2- they got their Talking Points going. Back alley abortion and no contraception (Bone to Planned Parenthood) etc 3- examined all legal options A. Codify abortion into law. Must be done before new Congress likely takes over. Don’t have the Senate votes without ending filibuster. Considering suspending the filibuster rule. When that was blocked they went to b. Executive Order- which often is loosely worded and vague as not to be easily struck down. So, they are using the system, all means at their disposal. They walk a fine line because power swings back and forth. Nobody should have been caught by surprise on this. This is same use of the system as when McConnell refused to bring up Merrick Garland’s SC nomination. The Right now will evaluate the impact of the XO, and decide if/ how to challenge it.
