I tried to search this subject but did not come up with much. I have some 235 gr. bullets in .375 that I thought I would load up for my H&H. Does anyone have any loads that have worked well for them? Thanks.

The Speer 235 is a neat "little" bullet. I've loaded it to a modest 2700 fps with Varget. Good accuracy and the bullet hangs together surprisingly well when slammed into the water-filled one-gallon jugs that pretty well tore up some other, heavier, bullets: A buddy of mine used to hunt elk and mule deer with the Speer 235's and described excellent results. I haven't yet tried it on game. Hodgdon recommends up to 70 grains of Varget, for 2819 fps.

Thanks. I am not looking to hot rod it, just a mild load for paper and maybe deer/hogs, just so I can actually kill something with the .375 until I can get back to Africa!

I also have a box of 270 gr. Hornady RN, I would think you could push those with a mild load and have similar results? I have the following powders on hand: -RL 15 -RL 19 H4350 IMR 4350 Varget

With 235gr bullets Alliant recommends 78gr Rl-15 for 2929fps. Should make a dandy ground squirrel load.
Also with the 235gr bullet, Hodgdon recommends 65gr of Varget for a starting load giving 2684fps.
Rl-19 and the 4350's are more useful for full power loads with heavier bullets, although you can load the 270's down to 2250-2350 with Varget or the 4350's. However, I have never tried it. I always figured the 235gr. bullets to be better suited for low velocity, not to mention cheaper.

The Varget load with the 235 looks interesting, would basically duplicate my .35 Whelen. Thanks.

Anyone using BL-C2 with this bullet? I loaded some up with 83grs (85 max) and was just wondering if anyone had used this combo. Shows lower pressure with good velocity. Thanks, T.S.

I have yet to try Trail Boss in a large rifle chambering with jacketed bullets but did read a formula put out by the makers of Trail Boss that is supposed to be acceptable for just about any round. It should not be hard to find and may give you good reduced loads without having to worry about having just a small amount of powder in the large case. I have a bunch of 235 grain bullets for my .375 H&H and may have to give it a try myself.
edit: The web site lists data for 375 H&H using 235 grain bullets. The starting load for trail Boss is 19 grains for a MV of 1091 f/s. The max load is 26.3 grains for a MV of 1144. These are not my data, and you should check the web site to make sure the numbers are correct.

Shooting 235 gr Barnes TSX's in my .375 H&H. 75gr RL15, seated 3.600" COAL. Runs 2835 to 2850 MV over my chrony. Could go faster, but, shoots ~2" groups at 292 yds, ~4" groups at 548 yds. Took a mule deer doe in Colorado this year with this load at 90 to 100 yds. A little blood shot meat on the near side where it hit the top of the shoulder bone. minimal blood shot where it exited far side ribs.
FWIW, I started load development with BLC2 under the 235gr TSX's. I got flat primers and WAY more speed than the Hodgdon website called for, even with the starting load. To the point that I used a second powder scale to check the calibration of the first powder scale. Switched to RL15 and the drama stopped. After that episode, I will never do load development without a chronograph...

It is debateable if it is a light bullet but my .375 likes the Sierra 250 gr. BTSP & RL-15.

Try the Sierra manual they have loads for the 200 gr flat nose @2250 fps. I killed three deer with this load and it is deadly! The Hornady manual also has reduced loads for the 220gr and 225 gr bullets. I haven't tried these yet but plan on doing so very soon. Recoil is mild and the bullets should hit hard. I shot some ballistic gel at 200 yds one day at the range and I was impressed. whelennut
I like to do my hunting BEFORE I pull the trigger! There is only one kind of dead, but there are many different kinds of wounded.

Not a light bullet but it's a fun practice load: 260 gr gas check cast bullet originally for a 38-55 (.378) 30.0 gr IMR 4198, CCI250 primer Approx 1550 FPS measured from a 24" barrel out of my Rem 700. Prints 1" groups at 50yds.
This is Lyman data, not mine.
