I have a double with Hastings barrels that I'm playing with. I've discovered that Winchester old fashioned slugs shoot really well in it. They lead things up after 5 or six shots. I'm thinking if I could powder coat some Foster slugs, there could be magic. I have the pellet slug mould and really don't want to spend a hundred bucks just to see if I can get past the leading issue with Fosters.
Does anybody know of a source of 20 guage foster slugs or maybe have a small stash that they could part with. And no, neither Ballistic Products and Precision Reloading has any.
Thanks
Bfly

Would it be possible to lube the fosters? They don't seem to do any leading in my slug gun, I use Winchester slugs generally. If your barrels are rifled it would seem that there would be several options, the old style Brennekes were my favorite and I know somebody still sells them. The ones attached to the wads. They seemed to clean the barrel when shot.

They are rifled. As you suggest, I was hoping to try lubing with 45/45/10 and powder coating Foster slugs just to see if it works. I've been shooting cast rife and handgun loads since the sixties. This is my first foray withslugs. Being a double, I need to have accuracy and regulation, so that complicates things a bit. I'm working my way through commercial ammo. Brennekes do shoot good in it. The commercial slug ammo, especially the sabot stuff is hard to find and generally as expensive or more expensive than big bore ammo. So casting and reloading seem to be the way to go, if I want to shoot much.
Thanks

Have you been to the castboolits forum? https://castboolits.gunloads.com/ They have a very good bunch of guys fooling with shotguns and various slug ideas.

Put a wire brush on a rod and use a drill to remove the lead. Lead attracts lead.
I have had good results with treating the bores with 1000+. It is the stuff used by muzzleloaders.
Back in my days as PD armorer we still shot slugs and buckshot After a round of qualifications that is what I had to do to remove the lead.
