Could members please post pics with different Speckletone Granite Finish Colored stocks here. Maybe Rick Bin could make it a "Sticky". Im sure it would help all members deciding on what combinations they want. McMillan has very little examples of Speckletone Granite stocks on their website.

Just ordered olive base with black and tan speck - dunno what it will look like. It can be easily changed if I don't like it of course.

Will post pics and edit here when it arrives.

Looks good! I should hopefully have one soon, as I ordered about a month after you. It'll be similar, but with gray instead of tan.

Here is a Remington Classic Edge short action ADL. Color combo is brown base and black speckle finish with a red 1" recoil pad.
Sorry the picture quality isn't better - its a really nice combo though and the speckle adds some really nice texture to the stock.

Here's an up close pic of olive with black/tan specs.

A couple folks asked me for a better picture since the "olive" looked more greenish/ grey.

I just sent in a stock for a LOP change and to have repainted afterwards in olive with black and grey specks. I think it'll look pretty good on a SS rifle, and I'll try to remember to post some pics once I get it back.

Got in an olive with gray and black splatter, intending to go with a matte CM action and SS barrel. It should work. The gray blends in with the olive to a much greater degree than the tan. If you want contrast, go with tan specks.

BTW, this M7KS handle has no checkering but the granite paint is very "grippy". More than what I've seen with their standard one-color paint jobs and more than what you get from a typical H-S or B&C.

Olive green and brown with no checkering on a SS Classic FWT. I actually bought this on the "specials" page at a discount. With the rough texture all over I see no need for checkering

30-06. I have always felt one of the Classic Fwt's in SS would make about the perfect all around hunting rifle. I like the new FN rifles well enough, but just trust and prefer the older style trigger more.

I found this rifle still NIB at a gunshow in May. I believe it was probably made around 1999-2000 and it still had the hang tags on it. Got it for $700 OTD.

When I got home I looked on McMillan's Specials page and found this stock. I wouldn't have ordered this, but I could get it "right now" and it was $475 shipped. Now that I have it and see how it looks on the gun It has grown on me. Since taking the photo's I've upgraded the scope to a Leupold 2.5-8X36. It weighs 7.5 lbs as it sits.

On the first range trip I fired 2 shots to get it on paper at 50 yards. This is shots #3,4,and 5 fired at 100 yards.

The 2nd picture I asked for the same finish as McMillan's EOL rifles. Olive, with black and tan speckletone.

The other rifle is the McMillan SCI Phoenix raffle rifle. I asked the colors of the SCI rifle stock and was told they were the olive, with tan and black speckltone.

The SCI stock appears a lighter olive than mine. Sure is a nice looking rifle!

Oldguns, the hardcase and rifle is McMillan's picture. Just using their picture for a comparison. Sorry, I don't know which hardcase that is.

I'm going to order another Speckletone stock soon. I think if I go with a 2 color speckletone, leave out the black speckle, should look more like the McMillan stock.

I ordered the Winchester Hunter Edge in brown with black specks and red pad for my 300 H&H, and a Rem MR Edge in gray with black specks for my Mtn Guide 7-08. Looking forward to 4 months from now!

Just received my Rem Hunter Stock in Olive green with black/tan specs. When I move slightly away from stock...I see NO specs...stock looks flat green(which is ok). I do have tired /old eyes. You may see different. For contrast you might want to go with grey with black specs or light tan with black specs. Sorry fo NO pics..NOT computer/pic savy. Hope this helps with your choice.

I don't know what it is about that Brown/Black Speck combination. I can't take my eyes off it. Especially with the red pad. It's going to be a stretch, but I have to get one of those. Between elk license and travel expense it's gonna be tight, but that stock rocks!

I like black with grey speckles probably the most. (black or stainless action and barrel)

However, these look nice as well...

brown with black speckles (red pad, black action and barrel)

green with black speckles (black pad, stainless action and barrel)

Fellas,

I'm looking at ordering my first McMillan stock and I really like the combo's I've seen on this thread.

Dumb Question(s) Alert: How does the McMillan Speckletone Finish Option work? Can you pick a base color and then one or two complementary colors in percentages you like? Or, do you select a base color and the one/two other colors are added to create the "speckled" appearance?

Just nominate your base colour and speckle colour or colours. They are painted on.

Percentages are used for colours on McSwirly gel coat stocks.

Does anyone have any pictures of their rifle in the stock with the barreled action coated something other than black? I really like the OD green with black and grey speckles and I'm thinking of having the action done in green or grey to match. Or going FDE as the base and coating the gun to match. I'm still open to other color combos, I just want to do the barreled action in something other than black.

Bobby7321,

Nice looking rifle.

Here's a similarly flavored one I've been tinkering with for awhile.

Also posted it in the "Rifle Blueprints Only" thread but figured it belonged here as well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

While not a full custom, here's a Stainless LH Model 70 I recently acquired and did some customizing to. I think it turned out pretty nice.

Work I did to it:

New custom Mauser-style bolt handle buildup and bolt release lever(by Mark Penrod)

Cut and re-crown barrel to 24", and whole barreled action bead-blasted to look factory fresh(by "Redneck")

PT&G steel bottom metal Cerakoted "Satin mag" to match stainless steel(by Eddie Fosnaugh). Still need to have Eddie Cerakote the Talley mounts in graphite black.

McMillan Win 70 FWT pattern in Black w/Gray speckletone paint

Glass bedding/floated barrel(did myself)

Cal: 7mm Rem Mag

Sorry for the crappy cell-phone pics.

Should be good medicine for Mulies/Elk on cross-canyon shots with handloaded 160gr Accubonds or 140gr T-TSX at 3,000 and 3,100 fps respectively.

How closely does the satin mag match the bead blasted finish and how do you like the color? Thanks it looks great.

Satin Mag is about as close to beadblasted stainless as you can get, IMO. It isn't a perfect match but it is pretty darn close. Close enough that I doubt anybody would notice unless they were told it was cerakote. Just a slight shade difference in color.

I think it looks great; really like it a lot. Not many options out there right now if you want custom bottom metal for a stainless barreled action. Cerakote solves the problem and looks good.

Both of the last two stocks shown above are really sharp. Glad McMillan finally came around to multi-colored paintjobs like these.

My McMillan Hunter came in yesterday. I've still not seen this exact combo, but I really like it. Olive base, with black and brown speckletone.

Has anybody done a tan base with black and olive green speckletone. I think that would look pretty dandy.

I would love to see a pic if anybody has one

Here's my Winchester EW 308 in a new Classic Edge with filled checkering. To say this stock is an upgrade from the B&C is the understatement of the year.

CowDoc,

Great shooting and nice rifle.

7 lb. 7 STW would be a ride.

About time you made your first post. Ha!

Brown with black speckles and a red pad has become my go-to for blued or black coated rifles. Grey with black speckles with a black pad is my other go-to for stainless. My stock choices are pretty much vanilla and chocolate!
