Go big, or go home !

A good grinder but a cheap sealer... check into real sealers. Had one of ours 13 years so far. Makes those things you are using seem like the junk they are. Chamber sealers are well worth the cost.

LEM works for us for close to 20 years now. 1.5 HP IIRC. #32 grinder body. I would not go smaller. But then we do 600 plus pounds of meat in a morning. Only once a year but a few other smaller loads now and then.

My only gripe to them at LEM is we had the grinder before the big bite part. It was a bad design that burned up bushings left and right... They admitted such, redesigned but charged me full price for their new one. I'd think if you know you had a lemon at least you'd give a break to the folks wanting one that worked correctly.

But I'm over that and its still cranking em out.

We do have a smaller version up north. Just how it worked out. 1 HP IIRC. If you go slow and keep it from getting hot, it does moose and bison etc.... I just go slow with it so I don't have the chance to hurt it. #22 head IIRC on that one.

I have a couple of large antique hand grinders. I rarely grind more than a couple hundred pounds a year. The good thing is that one of mine has been in service since 1888. I'm not expecting it to quit anytime soon.

You might look at this small commercial grinder. These have oil bath gears and are made to grind for a long time.

I bought this old small commercial grinder over 20yrs ago on Ebay for a $100.00.Parts are universal Hobart.I've ground a few thousand pounds of meat with it and it's as good today as it was back then and it's quiet running too.I use a foot switch with mine and that is a really handy.

I bought a Cabelas Carnivore 1 HP #22. I hate Cabelas anymore but I had points I wanted to use/get rid of. I've only run about 100 lbs through it so far but it seems like a beast and no troubles.

I sure could go for some $2.50/gal gas and a mean tweet!

For an old school type, the Sweden made hand / pulley crank is hard to beat.

Our old Waring finallly wore out. We don't do a lot of grinding so we bought one that fits on our KitchenAide. It actually works very well although it's not intended to grind a steer a day. It'll grind 5lb in just a few minutes and it's much quieter than any grinder I've used.

Sin wouldn't be so attractive if the wages were paid immediately.
