I've received Jan's prices for 2023. Yes, he has raised prices a bit. He had to account for his increased operating costs and current game populations. I've attached a link to the successful leopard hunt this past June 2022.

What cull hunt opportunities will he have for 2023?

I appreciate all your contributions here and the help you offer other members simply because you love Africa. The response from those that go has begun to infect me and I can see myself getting that opportunity in the not too distant future. Thanks 👍

Ace - The game populations are still recovering from the extreme and prolonged drought. It finally broke and they (Namibia in general) have had "normal" rains the last couple of year. The game numbers all over Namibia are slowly recovering but it's going to take a number of years to get to the point of having cullable numbers. Same goes for getting the trophy quality built up. For example, the minimum horn length for a legally shootable gemsbok in Namibia is 30" and kudu is 50". It takes about 4-5 yrs for a gemsbok to make the min and kudu 5-6. The real 40" gemsbok bulls take 8-9 years and a 57" plus kudu takes 9-10+.

You MIGHT find, come across an injured or seriously deformed animal he'd let you take at cull or camp meat prices but for now, just about anything that is alive is being allowed to stay to repopulate. There MIGHT be a few high fence operators that MIGHT offer a few culls but it's likely to be very rare country wide.

The best thing he's got on offer is the leopard hunt. Very reasonably priced compared others I've seen on offer in Namibia and other countries. If you read the leopard hunt report in the link above, he had four separate males on baits and two that actually were fighting near a bait a few minutes before the "winner" went in the salt.

If you're interested in a serious cull/management PG hunt, the places posted about here in Bots would be the place to go. At least for a few years while game numbers come back in Nam.

Reading over this has me wanting to go back and hunt with Jan. I don't have much to compare it to but such a good time was had I wouldn't bother to look elsewhere. Should I make it back to Africa, back to Sebra with Jan and his family is exactly where I'll be heading.

One would not be dissatisfied booking a hunt with Sebra Safaris. And if interested in leopard, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal. If there's one thing I know for sure; it's that Jan will work hard to put you on a cat.

Had a message from Jan that a prospective leopard client that was seriously kicking the tires for a leopard with Jan decided not to travel this year. So, he still has a leopard license available for 2023.
