Absolutely, but it also the only post on the forum on the subject I could find through search. Has the information somehow become irrelevant?
Dick Davis remains as
the smartest and most proficient stock man ever to inhabit Planet Earth. The technical things he innovated are still being used by stock companies today. He was a big help to me and I always remember his advice.
One of the things he told me was (paraphrasing): "The first thing to remember when getting bottom metal to fit correctly is to
start with the proper stock design for the bottom metal. If that's not right, you'll have to accept the compromises that come from a
poorly chosen stock pattern. Just because the stock maker can inlet for it doesn't mean it's going to look right."
Dick passed in 2016. I still have many of his notes he included with certain stocks he sent.
