In speaking with the legitimate owner of the PayPal account that was hacked, he told me that last time this happened the scam artist(s) actually mailed a package to the buyer, but it was full of junk. Apparently part of the scam is, they send a package with a tracking number, and when the buyer files a claim with PayPal that they've been ripped off, the scam artist(s) claim they sent the goods and it's your word against theirs as to the contents of the package, with them claiming you're trying to rip them off by keeping the item and trying to get your money back.

Apparently PayPal's stance is, once the package is opened, it's between you, the seller, and the Post Office, with 99% of PayPal's involvement being via email and never speaking to a live person (seller), so basically the buyer is [bleep].

Anyway, long story short, a package showed up today. Postage is from Puyallup, Washington, with the partial return address being Walnut Grove, California. Here's a picture of the contents for those who want to give that [bleep] POS glassman the benefit of the doubt!

If I could get my hands on the SOB, he'd be eating those chunks of concrete!!!

Would've been out $1,150.00, but red flags went up and the cop in me came out and I was lucky enough to sort things out and was able to track down the legitimate PayPal account holder in time for him to stop/refund payment before it was redirected to these [bleep].

Yup, I checked him out and like I've always said I don't do anything with NEW MEMBERS. They have to have some history on here before I do anything.

Not sure who to get involved or what they could do at this point. The IP address is offshore, the address in California is bogus, and the name he gave is a stolen identity.

GW,

That just sucks. Almost as bad as when years ago my dad gave me a present and it turned out to be a 'pet rock'. Back in 70's pet rocks were the rage.

Not these days...

I have an idea! I will offer $50 for the exact name, address and current where-abouts of this guy. Anyone want to add to that sum?

Doug

Post Script - I have bought and sold on this site and others with no problems - even bought stuff from GW.

Just to be clear. 99.5% of the folks here are as honest as can be. This incident reminds us all that these losers have worked their way into the little inner circle of the classifieds. Damn, cant ANYTHING stay good without somebody trying to screw it up? What this is going to hurt is new guys who have no intentions of screwing anybody. My advice for them would be hang around and participate, buy a few things from folks, pay on time and then try to sell later on. Kinda like 24 credit. You kinda have to earn it. Isn't that how it used to work?

+1 RAS. I've sold a few items here recently to guys with just a few posts and they all paid quick, communicated well and were easy to work with. Post count isn't everything, I rely more on speed and detail in communication.

Holy concrete con artist Batman........

I'd start at the post office. If schit head mailed it, he had to go there. Isn't that place covered in cameras?
