An acquaintance offered his experience Red Stag hunting in Scotland...after a longish stalk, his ghillie peered over a knoll at a Stag he wanted taken and there was another Stag near the first with only one antler he called a "murderer".

Apparently, when single antlers stags fight with one having a complete set, there is a real chance that the opponent can get gored. 2 racks crashing together rarely result in injury as possible with a single making it past and connecting with flesh.

The shooter was obligated to take the single antler Stag as directed by the ghillie though it would not count against him and could continue for another.

He had a Blaser and was able to take both.

Looking for info on malformed headgear on stags, I could find nothing. Anyone have a similar experience?
