This is exactly why “fighting words” do you justify a violent response. You said “stuff between kids is one thing” so if your nephew saw your reaction to someone calling him a racist or derogatory name and learned this was the proper response, wouldn’t it justify him cutting someone up and stomping out their guts or whatever it was exactly you said you would do.

I also have not had my kids come home and tell me that some called them a niqqer, but they have come home and told others called them names or were picking on them for some reason. I didn’t demonstrate the proper reaction was to cut someone or kill them.

It’s the ability to respond approximately to provocation that separates man from beast.

Look man, my original point was that I wouldn’t stand for person calling my nephew a niqqer in front of me. If you were raising a black kid you wouldn’t either. No real man would stand for it. Would I cut a guys throat, probably not. Would I crack him and stomp him, depends on the situation but it’s likely it would happen as soon as the words left their mouth. I don’t expect it to ever happen, nor do I wish it to. Reaction to a scenario like that plays out however it does at the time. Most guys here don’t get it, that’s why when I’m reading all the niqqer talk here while looking at him sitting across the room from me pisses me off. I should’t have to explain that, as decent folks should understand. Here I am though.

Nobody talked about your nephew. Nobody even talked to you, but you freak out, create a scenario in your mind, and threaten to kill people.

There’s a lot to being a dad as you obviously know, I’m not questioning you at all. Just remember when your talking to him about things he’s going to hear (sorry it’s going to happen) that the only person who’s response and actions he can control are his own.

One funny to me story years ago when I was a young sergeant I had two b/m officers that worked for me I get a call to a request for a supervisor to respond to the scene. I get there and one of the black officers is clearly pissed the other one takes me aside. He said sarge I had to practically restrain the other officer from attacking the elderly white woman complainant on the original call. I asked why and he told me the woman had described the suspects in a theft as two young niqqer boys. He used those exact words the same as the elderly woman had. I take the other black officer aside and he tells me he was raised to confront anyone calling him a niqqer (except other blacks). I told him based on the woman’s age and being southern I thought the woman used niqqer as an adjective as this is how she was raised. After mediating the call with all parties it was exactly how I suspected. The only thing that surprised me on the call was the black officers reactions. The one that understood the woman was using niqqer as an adjective was from Hartford Connecticut the one who took offense was from New Orleans. The one who was initially offended told me a couple days later he had a lot to learn, he was correct.

It’s the daily niqqer talk here, ya dumb fugg. Raising a black kid and seeing that schit thrown around so loosely kinda pisses me off. Of course it’s just in my head though. GTFOH!

Point taken, but I bet if an adult looked right at your daughter and called her a dirty squaw, you wouldn’t give the guy a high five and walk away. Maybe you would, I wouldn’t be able to. This whole thing has been based on hypothetical, and unlikely to happen in this day and age. Regardless, I wouldn’t put up with it for a second.

I know after reading it I can’t wait for spring to finally be here.

Maybe your nephew is an exception to the cause. But if you had interactions with some of the blacks some of the rest of us have you might see our side of the story
