Finally connected on a buck. Had a few blown stalks. Everything is so dry around here that without a stiff wind, sneaking into range was all but impossible. I was just still hunting when this buck came to me. Had a heck of a time finding him because he wasn't leaving a lot of blood, and he made a 360* circle, and I didn't want to believe that he went back the way he came, but that's basically what he did. Ran 250 yards to die 60 yards from where I shot him. He was quartering to me more than I realized, so my arrow entry sure looked good, but you can see the exit was quite aways back. Probably only got one lung and liver. Did get full penetration with the rage hypodermic.

A great one to be sure and with that quartering forward shot presentation kind of a valuable lesson for lots of us. That one for sure is a mature buck, but I had the same thing happen on a longer bodied mature doe that I thought was a shorter coupled fawn of the year. One lung and minimal blood for that one that went hundreds of yards before going down.

nice! Congrats

I learned my lesson too. No quarter too. Only broadside or quarter away for me. With archery anyway.

Glad it worked out.
