My earlier post wasn't intended to denigrate the 458 win mag. but just to say what I plan to do. Maybe a better Lott vs. Win. question would be, "is it worth it to chamber a full length magnum action to the shorter 458 Win. Mag. cartridge in order to make it feed more reliably"?
I'm left handed, so I have to make more compromises. The few CRF Winchester left hand rifles, out there, are made from soft tooling. So replacement parts will be unobtanium, in about ten more years. I got this from Winchester Tech Support, before they left New Haven.
For me anyhow, getting a workable Lott class boomer into a M-98 Action, CRF rifle, is a worthy goal, in itself. Any CRF action with a 458 Win. Mag., and three position safety, is primo, in these times. So, can a longer action be tuned to feed the 458 Winnie more slickly than it can feed the Lott?
